Some days are brick walls.
Others are wide open windows.
I much prefer the latter, don’t you?
One thing I’ve come to know is how often I’m the designer and builder of my own walls and windows. We all are.
And it is in leaping, in going for it, in saying yes, that we open up all the possibilities of our lives.
Here’s a poem (by Kaylin Haught) that gives us permission to do just that.
Seems right for this new season that is spring…
God Says Yes To Me
Kaylin Haught
I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes….
(Read the rest right here)
I can’t remember where I first heard this, but as soon as I read the opening lines again, I was bouncing in my chair, waiting for that glorious ending. Yes, yes, yes!
I know. Bounce bounce bounce…
You cannot possibly know how perfectly wonderful that post is for me today.
Thank you.
It was for me, too, Sweetcakes. Honestly…
I’m thinking that a God who calls me “Sweetcakes” is just about right for my theology. (I should say, my SHEology.)
Yes, Yes, Yes!

A Year of Reading
I know! May be time for a revision to the King James…
Ooooh, I do love this poem.
I’m reading it for the first time today.
I’ll read it again and again.
Thank you.
Love this poem. First time reading it. Just hearing yes yes yes is SO uplifting. Thank you sweetcakes.
Sweetcakes, that was a wonderful choice of a poem.
Thank you.
It is a very good poem for today.
Sooo glad y’all loved it like I did. Now carry on with your melodrama, or whatever you see fit!
cloudsome says:
*big grin* “Sweetcakes”! I need to hang this one up in my kitchen.
YES!

Liz,
I really like this poem. It was one of two poems I had considered for posting at Blue Rose Girls on Friday. I went with Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman” instead.
Love this one! And it reminds me of Cynthia Rylant’s God Went to Beauty School poem.
Liz, I just read the news about Allyn Johnston and thought of you. I hope all is well with your works with her.
