National Poetry Month — Haiku 27

This is from this morning but I’m just getting around to posting it now.
I love mornings.
I know lots of folks call that certifiably crazy but I just plain do.

Haiku 27

4/27/10

Toast and marmalade
and a wren at the window.
What does today hold?

I MUCH prefer mornings to nighttime — night is just the conclusion of the day. Beginnings carry with them such a frisson of excitement and challenge. And marmalade. There’s really nothing better.

Love your haiku. I especially enjoy mornings when we’re vacationing in the mountains of Vermont or along the seacoast in Maine. Sitting outside with a cup of coffee, looking at the view, and smelling the fresh mountain air or salty sea air–what could be better?
