The spring has been erratic and has come haltingly here, but it has delivered (thank goodness) rain.
When things get dry in Texas, all the plants curl up and the trees drop limbs and we sit inside in the air conditioning, parched and yearning. It’s not pretty.
But right now, the creeks are full and I’m appreciating it.
When the creek runs high
I feel like I belong here
There’s enough to drink
Rain makes you feel like there’s space to exhale. We might complain about these surprising late rains, but as another person from a parched state, I feel no inconvenience at the opportunity to wear tights and splash in puddles… and I’ll put off AC as long as possible, thank you.
I’m with you, totally. Too much of life is hot and dry….
Back home in Eastern Colorado, it is still dry, dry, dry. Has been for several years. People are getting close to desperate. Back here in Ohio, we are saturated. It just doesn’t seem fair.
So unfair, so erratic…
