I worship Meryl Streep.
And I get a huge kick outta ABBA.
And if anyone has ever had as much fun making a movie as the folks who just made Mamma Mia, I’d like to hear about it.
I mean, this was not the sing-a-long version that we saw and still, we were bringin’ the house down.
Whoa-boy, is it a hoot.
If you haven’t gone yet, I’ll go with you.
I want to go again.
Soon.
In the meantime, my Poetry Friday is of the Swedish pop variety.
Enjoy, my friends. Enjoy…
Chiquitita, tell me whats wrong
You’re enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that youre oh so sad, so quiet
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
Im a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, Im the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see youve broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together
Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars theyre leaving
Youll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita

And go here to listen to ABBA, Bee Gees, Queen and soooo much more!
I dare you not to giggle. And groove. I dare you…
I’ve heard lots of good things about this movie (loved the stage version I saw at the National Theatre). The music definitely gets you moving. I may have to go just to hear Colin Firth sing.
Colin also sings in The Importance of Being Earnest, in a duet with Rupert Everett. I highly recommend both movies.
OK, and Pierce Brosnan? Who normally really irritates me? Singing? Hilarious, and so dear. Seriously, Jama. GO!
I’ve seen it twice already, and intend to take myself one more time. Perhaps to the singalong version, but probably not. I so love pretty much everything about the movie (including in particular Colin Firth’s dance moves during the credits).
Ditto.
I’ve been meaning to go to this movie; I heard from a friend that it’s uplifting. And I love Abba music. It stopped playing at the little theatre I like going to, but there are a bunch more theatres I can check out–and I will, now. Thank you for reminding me–encouraging us all to go.

Yes. More than uplifting — I was crying I was laughing so hard.
Wah!!! I need some of you here to go see this with me! (My son refuses to go—imagine that.) We had this fighter pilot in our squadron whose last name was Abba, and when he got married, we all partied loud to Dancing Queen. It was Abba-tastic.
If flights were cheaper, I’d fly out for a matinee
SQUEEEEEL!! we’ve had the soundtrack on 24/7 over here. ah, abba!
rock on, dancing queen.
Lovely! I’m not an enormous ABBA fan, though I like them fine. My husband is more of a fan than I am, and he made me a compilation tape many years ago. These lyrics are some of my favorites of theirs!
Lila told me today…
that she and Ramona and Willa are going to be Abba Vampires for Halloween and that they want to perform ‘Dancing Queen’ at the coffeehouse dressed in their costumes. I had a laughcry attack just imagining it. OMG!!!!
