The Olympics

I save up all my TV watching for two years so that when the Olympics happen I go all in.
Seriously. I do.
I love the Olympics.

I loved the Opening Ceremony last night (especially since I was surrounded by 9-year-olds hopped up on birthday cake).
My highlights included:
The 3D whales.
The golden prairie/Peter Pan/Both Sides Now segment.
KD Lang singing Hallelujah.

I loved the short track semifinals tonight, including the discussion with my girls about whether Apolo Ohno should shave his soul patch.
Not that he asked us.

And I love that it is snowing big fat flakes in Whistler.

Oh, I’m also really kind of glad that they mellowed out the luge track because, jeez, this is supposed to be fun.
Not deadly.

That’s all for now.
Happy Valentines Day, friends.
Happy CYBILS day.
Happy Chinese New Year.
Namaste…

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA i think i’m voting for “lose the soul patch”. but man, if you can turn a corner tight and faaaaaaast like that, i guess you win the right do whatever you damn well please when it comes to facial hair. and my 9 year old was down right scared watching the luge. that footage during the opening ceramony really left an impression.

    Happy Valentine’s Day.
    Happy CYBILS day.
Happy Chinese New Year (come on Tiger!)

I have grown fond of Ohno’s soul patch. And was glad to see the results in the first short-track medal event, and in the women’s freestyle.

    Olympics

I didn’t even know the Olympics had started until today. Now I have to go and see if I can find a recording of the Opening Ceremonies.

I love the Olympics, too! I love the behind-the-scenes stories that makes me root for the athletes even more, no matter where they’re from. We were living in Italy for the last Olympics (2 Summer games and 1 Winter, actually) and the Italians aren’t into the personal stories–they just show the sports. My husband sort of rolls his eyes and laughs at me glued to the tube, but secretly, I think he thinks those stories maybe aren’t that bad after all. 🙂

    Totally!

I’m an Olympics junkie too (we break our no-TV-at-dinner rule), and sometimes I feel like I’m the only one! No one around me seems that excited about it. But yea, you are too! 🙂 And I just found out that you’re going to be at BookPeople on Saturday so I’m going to try to bring my kids to come see you. We just gave another copy of A Sock Is … as a baby gift. Maybe we can get an autograph on ours?
